New 400cc Triumph to be launched this year
Earlier this month, Triumph Motorcycles Philippines has officially unveiled its bikes for the entry-level big bike market: the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400 X, which are priced competitively at PHP 299,000 and PHP 339,000, respectively.
Now, another 400cc Triumph is in development, said Bajaj’s big boss himself, Rajiv Bajaj.
Bajaj also revealed during a recent interview that the upcoming 400cc will be launched later this year and the company will be introducing a new Triumph motorcycle model each year until 2027.
In India – the home of Bajaj Auto, the technical partner of Triumph Motorcycles for its entry-level lineup – the new 400cc bike was seen being tested on numerous occasions, and is sporting low clip-on handlebars and Bol d’Or fairing similar to the Speed Triple 1200 RR.
The headlight is similar to the Speed 400 currently in production.
Since the upcoming bike is based on the Scrambler 400 X and Speed 400, it is safe to assume that it is powered by the same, newly-developed liquid-cooled, DOHC 398cc single-cylinder TR Series engine that is claimed to be capable of producing 40 Ps of power and 37.5 Nm of torque.
It is mated to a six-speed gearbox and is said to be capable of reaching more than 150 kilometers per hour top speed.
