Fuel cap recall issued by KTM and Husqvarna
As many of you may have already heard or seen in the news, KTM has pulled the plug on its Philippine distributor, Lucky MAPI, effective September 30, 2025. As a result, beginning October 1, the country no longer has an official distributor for KTM and Husqvarna products.
Fuel cap recall
Just recently, KTM and Husqvarna issued a recall on many of their products due to a potential hazard. According to KTM, it is initiating a recall of the 2024 KTM 125, 250, 390, and 990 DUKE models. These affected motorcycles must be brought to the workshops of authorized KTM dealers for a preventive replacement of the fuel tank cap seal.
The same applies to Husqvarna’s 2024 Svartpilen and Vitpilen models 125, 250, and 401. According to KTM, this issue could “lead to the possibility of fuel leakage.” While that may sound minor, under the right conditions, a fuel leak can potentially spark a fire or even cause an explosion.
Still no PH distributor
With no official word yet on who will take over as the new “KTM PH,” we reached out to KTM’s global communications team in Austria to find out who Filipino customers can turn to for support regarding this potentially serious fuel cap issue.
According to Sarah Parzer, Senior Integrated Communication Manager for KTM, Filipino customers can still bring their affected motorcycles to the nearest authorized KTM or Husqvarna dealers for servicing. On the other hand, details on the next “KTM PH” distributor will be officially announced soon.
“The Philippine market will continue to be served through local partners; therefore, nothing will change for end customers. The specific design of the sales structure is currently in its final stages. Once this process is complete, we will provide further information,” Parzer told MotoPinas.com.
Additionally, customers are encouraged to check first if their motorcycle is affected by this recent recall through KTM’s service site (click here) by entering the VIN and Delivery Certificate Number.
