Lucky MAPI will continue to be KTM's distributor until September 30
KTM boasts a storied history in the Philippines, mirroring its Austrian principal’s occasional management changes. Not long ago, the torch was passed from Ayala Corporation-led Adventure Cycle Philippines, Inc. (ACPI) to Lucky MAPI, which now serves as the exclusive KTM distributor in the country.
But recently, there’s a buzz in the motorcycle community with speculation about a possible shift in the distributorship of the Austrian brand here in the country.
To set the record straight, MotoPinas.com sat with Lucky MAPI’s two key people: Dan Abelarde and Martin Madrid.
Bajaj takeover
As is widely known, Indian-based multinational company Bajaj acquired a controlling stake in KTM in May of this year, following financial troubles and hundreds of thousands of unsold inventory for the Mattighofen-based firm.
As the brand’s “new boss”, all crucial business decisions for KTM, including its Philippine operations, will now be directed by Bajaj. As a consequence, Lucky MAPI’s distributorship agreement, slated to end on September 30, 2025, will not be renewed.
But here’s the good news: Lucky MAPI assures that it will remain dedicated to providing world-class customer experience for the loyal KTM community. This unwavering focus means that KTM’s entire dealer network, spanning Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, will be consistently equipped with the brand’s robust after-sales services and cutting-edge models, with the highly anticipated new 390 models available soon in showrooms this coming August.
“Customers will not feel the transition,” Abelarde told MotoPinas.com.
Next PH distributor
The inevitable question arises: “Who will continue carrying the torch of KTM’s Philippine operations from October 1, 2025?” Lucky MAPI indicated that KTM and Bajaj are currently deliberating on this decision, with an announcement hoped to be out within the coming week or two. The bottom line, however, is that it’s business as usual for the brand.
