Asec. Mendoza says several LTO employees arrested for conniving with fixers
It’s no secret that fixers have been operating within and outside the premises of various Land Transportation Office (LTO) branches, offering to do the legwork or expedite transactions for a fee. This has been a long-standing issue, contributing to perceptions of corruption and inefficiency within the LTO.
During these past couple of years, the LTO has been actively working to combat this problem through various measures and has successfully captured fixers red-handed with the help of other government agencies. But the question remains: is the LTO trying to catch the accomplices of fixers within the agency? The answer is yes, according to Asec. Atty. Vigor Mendoza II.

Just recently, the LTO lauded the conviction of 6 fixers in the Province of Cagayan. These fixers were sentenced to a maximum of three years imprisonment and at least PHP 5,000 fine for each offense by two separate courts in the said province.
Mendoza warned fixers to refrain from doing their illegal activities, saying that anti-fixing operations were already intensified with the help of the police and other law enforcement agencies. In fact, says Medoza, “a handful of LTO employees were already arrested or under investigation for conniving with fixers.”
The LTO has not given further details about the said employees or from what particular district, extension, or satellite office they’re from.
“Let this serve as a warning to the fixers that we will be relentless in running after you. We will make sure that you will truly regret the wrongdoing [that] you have committed,” says Mendoza.
