LTO Tracker users report glitches on social media

Last May, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) introduced a new online portal, LTO Tracker, designed to streamline two of its key services. The platform allows motorists to track the status of their driver’s license and vehicle license plates with ease. Its most significant feature is a direct courier delivery option, which provides the convenience of receiving official documents and IDs at home.

While the new LTO portal offers a welcome solution to the frustration of long queues, the system is not without its flaws.

Over the past few weeks, social media groups have been filled with complaints from frustrated clients of the LTO Tracker service. Many claim to have paid for the service but received incorrect license plates, while a significant number of others have not received anything at all.

No plate received

A rider friend of mine from Cainta, Rizal, has shared his frustrating experience with the LTO Tracker portal on social media. After locating his motorcycle’s license plate as available at the Muntinlupa District Office, he opted for door-to-door delivery and paid the PHP 210.00 fee. However, more than 20 days have passed, and the plate has yet to be delivered.

“Anyone else got Budol by LTO plate delivery service yet?

Last month, LTO tracker says my plate number is available at Muntinlupa District Office and can be delivered door to door. Following the prompts, I chose delivery and paid 210 pesos. It’s been 22 days and the status still says ‘We are locating your plate number’

Is it another scam by LTO? Hundreds of thousands of people pay 200 pesos each  and where does that money go?” said my rider friend.

In another example of the portal’s flaws, a social media post from an LTO client detailed a frustrating inconsistency in the process. Despite completing all the online steps and paying for the convenience of home delivery, he was informed that his motorcycle’s license plate was only available for pickup at the dealership.

(Bosses, I just wanted to ask, I used LTO Tracker and paid on their page using GOGO Express and GCash then when I checked after 2-3 days, suddenly an appointment was set? I thought it would be delivered. But why did they still set an appointment?)

Wrong license plate sent

Another motorist has reported a major error with the LTO’s delivery service: after using the LTO Tracker portal to have his license plate delivered, he received a physical plate that did not match the one displayed on the tracker.

Paano kaya to mga boss, iba ang dumating na plate? Nag track ako ng plate number ko sa LTO tracker tsaka ko pinadeliver pero mali naman yung actual plate na pinadala compare sa lumabas sa tracker,” said one motorist.

(How is this possible, bosses, the plate that arrived was different? I tracked my plate number on the LTO tracker and had it delivered but the actual plate that was sent was wrong compared to what appeared on the tracker.)

The reported issues with the LTO Tracker are not limited to just delivery problems. Other clients have also shared frustrating experiences with conflicting information, such as one user whose pickup address was listed as LTO San Fernando, La Union, while the directions provided on the portal pointed to the LTO Quezon City office.

Having been operational for only four months (as of this writing), the LTO Portal is currently in its developmental phase. Consequently, technical glitches and system inconsistencies are still being addressed.

For assistance with any issues related to the LTO Tracker, users are directed to contact the following email addresses: [email protected] or [email protected]. And yes, these are @gmail.com accounts, and not “@lto.gov.ph.”
