Marc Márquez to miss 2025 season finale following med eval
For Marc Márquez, the path to glory has often been shadowed by injury. The multiple-time world champion has endured a series of shoulder problems: in 2020, again in 2022, and most recently earlier this month, with each testing his resilience and determination to return stronger.
Now, Márquez has undergone a follow-up medical examination at Ruber International Hospital in Madrid, where his doctors confirmed that the Spanish rider will be unable to return to competition for the remainder of the 2025 MotoGP season. As a result, Márquez will miss both the Portuguese GP and the Valencian Community GP, as well as the post-season test scheduled for November 18 at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Cheste.
The medical team overseeing Márquez’s recovery reported that the healing process of his coracoid fracture and associated ligament injury is progressing positively and within normal parameters. However, they have prescribed four weeks of complete immobilization of the affected arm before rehabilitation can begin, making a return to track action before the end of the year impossible.
After carefully assessing the situation, Marc Márquez and his team concluded that the most prudent and consistent decision is to respect the natural recovery period of his injury, even if it means missing the final races of the season and the post-season test. A challenging winter now awaits, focused on rebuilding muscle strength and preparing for the 2026 campaign.
The 32-year-old Spanish rider emphasized that this decision should not overshadow the remarkable accomplishment achieved this year when he reclaimed the World Championship title. He also expressed his gratitude to fans for their unwavering support, and to Ducati and all sponsors for their understanding and encouragement throughout his recovery.
Ducati Corse will announce in the coming weeks who will replace Márquez for the final two rounds of the 2025 MotoGP World Championship.
