MPTC strengthens Public-Private Partnerships, co-pilots a sustainable future at 4th Transport Conference
Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) reaffirmed its commitment to collaboration and sustainability in the country’s transport sector during the 4th Transport Conference held on October 15 at Okada Manila.
Carrying the theme “Co-Pilots: Navigating a Safer, Smarter & More Sustainable Future in Transportation,” the annual gathering brought together transport leaders, government officials, and industry stakeholders to discuss strategies for improving road safety, modernizing mobility systems, and strengthening public-private partnerships.
MPTC President and CEO Gilbert Santa Maria underscored the company’s continuing investments in road infrastructure and technology, emphasizing the mutual relationship between expressway operators and transport service providers.
“Your business supports our business—that’s why we aim to provide every possible way to ease and improve your mobility experience on our expressways,” Santa Maria said.
DOTr Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez
Department of Transportation (DOTr) Acting Secretary Atty. Giovanni Lopez delivered the keynote address, urging the public and private sectors to strengthen partnerships toward transport modernization and safety. Panel discussions throughout the day explored topics such as digital transformation, driver education, road safety, and future tollway development.
The conference was attended by representatives from major transport groups, including the Confederation of Truckers Association of the Philippines (CTAP), Inland Haulers and Truckers Association (INHTA), Haulers and Truckers Association in the Watersouth, Inc. (HATAW), Alliance of Concerned Truck Owners and Organizations (ACTOO), and Nagkakaisang Samahan ng Nangangasiwa ng Panlalawigang Bus sa Pilipinas, Inc. (NSNPBPI), as well as national jeepney and UV Express organizations.
Santa Maria closed the event with a call for shared accountability in building safer roads. “As we continue to invest in infrastructure and innovation, we must also promote responsible driving and full compliance with traffic regulations,” he said.
The 4th Transport Conference strengthened collaboration across the transport ecosystem and set the tone for future initiatives centered on safety, sustainability, and smart mobility in the Philippines.
MPTC serves as the tollways and infrastructure arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), led by businessman Manuel V. Pangilinan.
