NLEX-C5 Northlink section to serve 11,000 vehicles daily once operational
Big bike riders and other motorists traveling between Quezon City, western Metro Manila, and North and Central Luzon will soon have another route option, with the 2-kilometer NLEX-C5 Northlink section connecting Mindanao Avenue to Quirino Highway now 96% complete.
The elevated expressway will extend NLEX eastward to Quirino Highway, giving motorists an alternative to Mindanao Avenue. Once operational, the segment is expected to accommodate all vehicle classes and serve around 11,000 vehicles daily.
The new road will have CCTV cameras, speed management systems, RFID readers, and Neology antennas for toll collection. Roadway lighting, traffic signs, pavement markings, concrete barriers, and reflective safety devices are also part of the project.

Construction crews are completing the concrete barriers and expansion joints along the mainline, the eastbound and westbound ramps at Quirino Highway, and other civil works ahead of the segment’s opening.
From Quirino Highway, motorists will be able to access NLEX through the new connection. They can then continue toward Manila, the University Belt, and Makati via the NLEX Connector, or head north toward Central and North Luzon.
NLEX President and General Manager, Luis Reñon, said the company is accelerating construction to provide infrastructure that could help motorists save time and travel costs amid unpredictable fuel prices.
“We want to give motorists greater freedom not only in how they travel, but also in how they spend their time and money. While fuel prices and other travel-related costs are beyond our control, we can provide reliable road infrastructure that helps people reach their destinations more efficiently. That is the value we aim to deliver through this project.”
The 2-kilometer Segment 8.2 Section 1A is part of the 11.3-kilometer NLEX-C5 Northlink Project, which is planned to connect Mindanao Avenue to C5/C.P. Garcia near Katipunan Avenue. The larger project aims to improve road connections between Metro Manila and Central and North Luzon through the NLEX network.
NLEX Corporation is a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the toll road arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC).
