See a stray animal on NLEX? Don’t stop, call the rescue team
For motorcycle riders, encountering a stray animal on NLEX can be particularly dangerous. A dog or cat suddenly crossing the expressway can force a rider into a split-second, potentially life-or-death decision. But an “animal lover” motorist stopping in the middle of an expressway to deal with the animal can create an even bigger hazard for riders approaching from behind.
NLEX Corporation now has a 31-member Animal Rescue Team trained specifically to handle stray animals along the expressway. The team underwent training with the Marilao Municipal Veterinary Services Office and has been equipped with the necessary gear and vaccines to respond to stray dogs and cats.
The NLEX Animal Rescue Team was introduced under the expressway operator’s “I Care For Strays” program. Rescued animals will be turned over to the Marilao Animal Shelter and Care Facility for continued monitoring and care.
