Bear 650 scrambler revealed by Royal Enfield at EICMA
It was in 2021 when reports about Royal Enfield (RE) working on a scrambler model made news, with the 650 cc platform being a good candidate. Now, RE introduced a new variant to its 650 cc range during the recent EICMA in Italy, now aimed toward a more off-road oriented riding: the Bear 650 scrambler.

Following the success of the Interceptor, Continental GT and recently, the Shotgun 650, Royal Enfield introduces the Bear 650 scrambler. According to RE, the idea that inspired it comes from Eddie Mulder's historic victory in the 1960 Big Bear Run.
Honoring that historic moment, RE named its new scrambler Bear 650.
Like the Interceptor, Continental GT and Shotgun 650, the new scrambler is powered by Royal Enfield's 650 cc twin-cylinder engine delivering about 47 ps of power at 7,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 56.5 Nm at 5,150 rpm, which provides good thrust even in the mid-range.
The unprecedented 2-in-1 exhaust system optimizes delivery, while the compact silencer saves weight and plays an important role in defining the bike's look. Completing the Bear 650’s scrambler look is a pair of big block off-road tires, a short rear fender, side panels with race bib, and high ground clearance.
The look is further enhanced by the color schemes, inspired by the lively California spirit: Petrol Green, Golden Shadow and a special edition called Two Four Nine, which pays homage to the iconic race number with which Eddie Mulder won the Big Bear Run.

Himalayan 650 next?
It’s no secret that manufacturers often use a single platform to introduce different motorcycle models. For example, KTM’s 390 platform has been used for models RC 390, Duke 390, 390 Adventure, 390 Adventure R, Svartpilen 401 and the Vitpilen 401. For Royal Enfield, its 650 platform has so far been used in 4 models, including the Bear, so it is not a far-fetched reality that a few tweaks in the suspension, 21”/18” front-rear tires, wide handlebars and a large fuel tank would result in an adventure-ready Himalayan 650.
