1,200 V-GREEN battery swapping stations to rise in Bataan
VinFast’s electric scooters are arriving in the Philippines sooner than many expect, and one of the brand’s biggest weapons is its battery swapping ecosystem. Instead of waiting hours to recharge, riders can swap depleted batteries for fully charged ones in just minutes, practically eliminating range anxiety and making e-scooters nearly as convenient as traditional fossil fuel-burning motorcycles.
During our recent trip to Vietnam, VinFast e-Scooter Philippines promised an affordable lineup for the local market, backed by what it claims will eventually be an accessible network of up to 30,000 battery swapping stations.
The road to those 30,000 battery swapping stations will begin now.
Just recently, V-GREEN, the company behind VinFast’s charging and battery swapping infrastructure, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Provincial Government of Bataan to roll out a province-wide EV charging and battery swapping network. The project will cover one city and 11 municipalities, positioning Bataan as one of the country’s leading hubs for electric vehicle adoption.
According to V-GREEN, the company plans to deploy 600 EV charging stations across Bataan. But what’s even more exciting, especially for us who are waiting for VinFast’s upcoming e-scooters, is its plan to establish 1,200 battery swapping stations throughout the province.
Under the agreement, V-GREEN will handle the supply, installation, operation, and maintenance of the entire network, while the Provincial Government of Bataan will help identify strategic locations, coordinate with local government units, and, most importantly, fast-track permits and approvals for the project.
Meanwhile, V-GREEN has also partnered with CleanFuel to explore the development of its EV charging stations in Dasmarinas, Cavite.
These new agreements would lay the groundwork for VinFast’s upcoming e-scooter launch in the Philippines, ensuring that battery swapping infrastructure will already be in place once the units hit local roads. At the same time, the expanding charging network is expected to make EV ownership more convenient for existing VinFast car owners, further accelerating the country’s growing shift toward electric mobility.
