BMW Motorrad officially launches the F 450 GS at EICMA
About a year ago, BMW Motorrad stirred excitement among adventure-riding fans with the debut of its F 450 GS concept, a fully functional prototype at the time. A few months later, the model was spotted undergoing road tests near TVS’s facility in Hosur, India. Now, at this year’s EICMA, BMW Motorrad has finally unveiled the production-ready F 450 GS adventure bike.
Pocket-sized GS
According to Markus Flasch, CEO of BMW Motorrad, the new BMW F 450 GS brings the true GS spirit to the 48 PS A2 class, offering a balanced mix of agility, stability, and control. Designed for both on- and off-road performance, it delivers an intuitive and confident riding experience.
Powering the new BMW F 450 GS is a 430cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that produces 48 PS at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. Compared to its closest rivals in the entry-level adventure bike segment, the CFMOTO 450MT delivers 44 PS and 44 Nm, while the Honda CB500X offers 47 PS and 43 Nm, putting the new GS right at the top of its class in terms of performance balance and refinement.
BMW Motorrad claims the new F 450 GS has a fuel efficiency of 3.8 liters per 100 kilometers, or equivalent to about 26.3 km/L. With a 14-liter fuel tank, the bike can theoretically cover up to 368 kilometers on a single fill, making it a capable companion for both daily rides and long-distance adventures.
The F 450 GS comes packed with advanced features, including multiple riding modes (with a PRO option), ABS Pro, quickshifter, USB-C port, 21-inch front/17-inch rear wheels, traction control, and a slipper clutch for smoother downshifts. Suspension duties are handled by KYB inverted front forks and a KYB monoshock rear absorber, complemented by a four-piston front brake caliper and a single-piston rear unit for confident stopping power. Riders can also enjoy optimized ergonomics with seat height options ranging from low to Rallye configurations, along with adjustable levers and handlebars; a 6.5-inch TFT display offering full smartphone connectivity and a host of other modern conveniences.
BMW Motorrad highlights a segment-first innovation with the introduction of the Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) in the entry-level adventure bike category. Working in tandem with the quickshifter, the ERC eliminates the need for manual clutch operation entirely, from takeoff and gear shifts to low-speed or technical maneuvers, which offer riders a smoother, more effortless riding experience both on and off the road.
The new BMW F 450 GS will be available in four variants: Basic, Exclusive, Sport, and the Trophy, the latter being the top-of-the-line model designed with the most off-road capability and adventure-focused features.
When asked about the F 450 GS’s local arrival, our friends from BMW Motorrad Philippines earlier hinted that it would be available “very soon.” Based on current timelines, it’s expected to reach showrooms ahead of the 2026 FJMOTO Mountaincross Rally.
