KLX230 SHERPA now available
For years, the local dual-sport motorcycle market has largely been a two-player game, dominated by Honda’s CRF250L/300L and Yamaha’s aging Serow 250. While Suzuki has yet to offer a direct competitor, Kawasaki has entered the fray with a notable adjustment to its lineup.
Kawasaki has reimagined the KLX230, transforming it into the SHERPA. This dual-sport motorcycle is specifically designed to appeal to a broader audience by blending practicality for everyday commuting with the rugged capabilities needed for weekend outdoor adventures. It aims to be a versatile companion, equally at home on city streets and off-road trails.
Features
While the SHERPA’s base is the tried and tested KLX230 platform headlined by its rugged 233cc, air-cooled EFI engine, it’s been tweaked to have a “rider-friendly character that makes it a highly approachable and versatile trekking tool,” according to Kawasaki.
It boasts an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) for the front and rear—something that Honda and Yamaha don’t offer on their dual-sport models for the Pinoy rider.
Additionally, the KLX230 SHERPA has a digital panel that is capable of smartphone connectivity—another first in the country when it comes to dual-sport motorcycles from the ‘Big 4’.
Kawasaki has also responded to rider feedback by designing the SHERPA with ‘Ergo-fit’—a system allowing riders to achieve their ideal posture when riding. This innovative approach enables adjustments to the handlebars, footpegs, and seat through interchangeable and adjustable parts. As a result, a wide range of riders can find a comfortable and controlled riding position.

Availability
Without much fanfare, the new Kawasaki KLX230 SHERPA has arrived, now available at all Kawasaki Krib and Leisure Bike dealerships, with an SRP of PHP 261,300, exclusively in Medium Smokey Green.
