Anti-loud pipe ordinance in full swing in Manila
In July 1, 2025, Francisco Domagoso, more popularly known as Isko Moreno, was inaugurated as the City of Manila’s new Mayor. One of the first things he did on his first day of office was to enact several Executive Orders to improve the lives of his constituents.
One of them is the strict implementation of City Ordinance 8772, which basically prohibits modified mufflers/exhaust pipes in all types of vehicles within the country’s capital.
Today, ‘Yorme Isko’ reports that the days of noisy motorcycle mufflers are nearing an end in Manila, as city authorities are implementing stricter measures against modified exhaust systems. This initiative directly addresses widespread complaints from Manila residents who have been disturbed by the excessive noise these motorcycles emit, even during the wee hours when their owners ride the streets of Manila.
“Tapos na ang maiingay na araw ng mga tambutso ng motor dahil nakakaistorbo kayo sa ating mga kababayan na natutulog, nagtra-trabaho at nag-aaral sa ating lungsod.
Dahil kukumpiskahin namin ang mga muffler ninyong nakakabulabog,” said Mayor Domagoso.

Law enforcement authorities in Manila have started confiscating mufflers that cause public disturbance, a direct response to calls for quieter streets and a more peaceful urban environment. This action is designed to significantly reduce noise pollution, thereby enhancing the quality of life for residents.
