New motorcycles to expect at Makina Moto Show
The Makina Moto Show has steadily grown to be the Philippines’ biggest motorcycle event, showcasing products from 141 brands from the motorcycle industry. Over the years, Makina Moto Show has also become the official launching event for many motorcycle brands.
Between April 26-28, 2024, at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City, a couple of motorcycle brands has already announced that they’ll be unveiling their newest models to the public.
CFMOTO
After the successful Global Launch of the 450MT in El Nido, Palawan, this newest adventure bike will be heading to the Makina Moto Show for its official Philippine public launch.
The 450MT features all-LED lighting, TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity, USB charger (Type C and Type A), Rally-style adjustable windscreen, foldable side mirrors as standard, handguards, skidplate, ABS, traction control, slipper clutch, KYB adjustable suspension, enduro footpegs, tubeless wire wheels and a rider-option low to high seat. It is powered by a parallel-twin, liquid cooled engine that churns out a claimed 44 PS of power and 44 Nm of torque.
SRP is PHP 328,900, with showroom availability on April 29, 2024.
BMW Motorrad
For BMW Motorrad, it will be an electrifying weekend with the launch of its newest electric motorcycle – the CE 02.
First presented as a concept e-motorcycle in 2021, the BMW CE 02 is a lightweight electric vehicle that is ideal for urban use, offering high fun factor as well as straightforward yet stylish commuting. The 11 kW of output and all the torque available from a standstill allow for fast acceleration at traffic lights.
The CE 02 offers a claimed top speed of 90 km/h and a range of 90 km, making it easy to get from A to B – and back again – even in heavy city traffic.
Besides the CE 02, BMW’s newest adventure bikes will be in the spotlight, headlined by the flagship R 1300 GS and its new 900 cc range: the F 900 GS, F 900 GS Adventure and the 2024 F 850 GS.
Ducati
Access Plus Group – the Philippine distributor of Ducati motorcycles – is set to launch the race-bred Multistrada V4 RS.
According to Ducati, “the Multistrada V4 RS pushes Ducati sports DNA in the Big Dual family to even more of extreme, ensuring an unprecedented mix of electrifying performance and comfort.”
The Multistrada V4 RS is equipped with the Race Riding Mode for maximum 180 hp power in all gears and sharp throttle response. Additionally, the Multistrada V4 RS features race-derived dry clutch technology, Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 electronic suspension, a single-sided swingarm, Marchesini forged aluminum wheels and many more.
The Multistrada V4 RS has the distinction of being the only Multistrada to be powered by the 1,103 cc Desmosedici Stradale, the MotoGP-derived engine used on the Panigale and the Streetfighter.
Royal Enfield
Now under a new distributor, Motociclista Scatola Inc. (MSI), Royal Enfield will be officially launching its newest adventure bike: the Himalayan 450.
Staying true to their word, MSI will be unveiling the new Himalayan 450 this April 2024. The new Himalayan 450 has received a major overhaul from top to bottom and has received a new engine that Royal Enfield engineers dubbed as the “Sherpa” – like the high-altitude sherpas that inspired it.
The new engine is now liquid-cooled and produces a claimed 41 Ps of power and 40 Nm of torque. The new Himalayan 450 also boasts a new Tripper dash – a fully digital screen with Bluetooth connectivity. Also, the front suspension now enjoys Showa USD forks, ride-by-wire, 2-riding modes, and a much sleeker overall design.
SRP is PHP 339,000.
Suzuki
Suzuki Motorcycles Philippines will also feature its new products in the upcoming Makina Moto Show. According to Edelyn Yanilla, Suzuki Philippines’ Marketing Communications Group Head, the motorcycle maker from Hamamatsu will be unveiling models that were featured at EICMA 2023.
Though our friend Eds – as we call her – won’t spill the beans for us, Suzuki may unveil 2 models from EICMA: the GSX-S1000GX and the GSX-8R.
The GSX-S1000GX is Suzuki’s answer to BMW’s S1000XR and Ducati’s Multistrada V4 S.
The GSX-S1000GX combines sport-tourer and adventure elements. By adopting the engine from the GSX-S1000 series, it inherits the power performance required for sport riding while also incorporating new technologies and equipment to enhance touring capabilities.
The GSX-8R, on the other hand, is a sport model that allows riders of all ages and skill levels to enjoy various types of riding, from urban streets to winding roads and circuits.
The “8R” is based on the GSX-8S, and is equipped with fairings and separate handlebars suitable for sport riding.
ZEEHO
For the first time in Makina Moto Show’s history, ZEEHO will have its booth that will feature an all-electric scooter lineup.
According to Motostrada – the official distributor of ZEEHO electric scooters in the Philippines – it will launch two new scooters: the AE2 and the AE6.
Both the AE2 and the AE6 are considered to be the AE8’s “little siblings” in ZEEHO’s e-scooter lineup. The AE6 boasts 5,500W motor that can propel the scooter up to 80 kilometers per hour. The AE6 also boasts a fast charging time from 0% to 100% in just 4.2 hours and a battery range of 100 kilometers.
The AE2, on the other hand, is a more compact scooter perfect for urban riding. It boasts a lithium battery pack that gives the AE2 a range of about 80 kilometers in one full charge.
Peugeot Motocycles
Peugeot Motocycles is perhaps one of the oldest brands in the motorcycle industry, which traces its roots as far back as 1898 when the company introduced its first motorcycle.
At the upcoming Makina Moto Show, Peugeot Motocycles is proud to announce that it will unveil the Django 150 Café Racer. Like the “normal” Django 150, the Django 150 Café Racer is still powered by the same 150.6 cc air-cooled engine which produces a claimed 11 Ps of power and 11 Nm of torque. It also boasts some of the features that are already found in the “normal” Django 150.
Where it differs is in the striking Café Racer appearance that is unique in the world of scooters. For example, the Django 150 Café Racer has a café racer seat as opposed to a long seat to accommodate both the rider and pillion on the Django 150. It also features bar-end side mirrors, café racer-inspired race numbers and decals, as well as a café racer-inspired headlight and windscreen.
Other brands/manufacturers will also be launching or featuring their new products during the show, so please watch out for the scheduled sequence/programs for April 26, 27 and 28.
